The doors of the First National Bank of
Philadelphia, the predecessor to the present Citizens Bank of
Philadelphia, first opened its doors for business on February 8, 1908,
with $50,000 Capital and $5,000 Surplus with 48 stockholders.
In 1917 the National Charter was
surrendered and a State Charter obtained, changing the name of the bank
to The Citizens Bank.
The Citizens Bank is headquartered in
Philadelphia, MS. The Bank has nineteen banking locations in eight
counties in East Central Mississippi. In addition to full service
commercial banking, the Bank offers mortgage loans, Internet banking
services including online banking, bill pay and cash management services
for businesses. Internet services are available at the Bank
web site.
Citizens Holding Company stock is listed
on the American Stock Exchange and is traded under the symbol CIZ.
