Clarke Co. Forestry and Wildlife Festival

This weekend marks the first for the Fall season of 2010. Clarke County residents and community members participated in a perfect way to bring in the new season.

Saturday friends and family gathered for the Clarke County Forestry and Wildlife Festival. The Clarke County Chamber of Commerce sponsored the festival. It was held at Archusa Water Park in Quitman.

For those in attendance, boredom was not an option. There were activities for everyone. They ranged from a dog show, a kiddy land, an archery contest, and of course, forestry and wildlife displays.

Tony Fleming is a member of the festival committee. He says this is a great way to bring the community together.

"Well, for one thing, it brings everybody together. Everybody knows everybody. Plus, we have a lot of vendors here, that are mom and pop vendors. And we have people that are brought there shops down here, so it offers good exposure."

Flemings says this is the 20th year for the festival and it continues to improve each and every year.

There were roughly 50 vendors. The festival went from 9a.m. to 5p.m. The whole day kicked off with a 5k run and 3k walk.
