The Choctaw Area Council Boy Scouts of America honored Meridian businessman Tommy Dulaney at its Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner Tuesday night.
Dulaney was recognized for exemplifying the values of scouting in his personal and professional life. He is the second person awarded this honor by the Choctaw Area Council. The first was former congressman Sonny Montgomery in 2005.
"I think the Boy Scouts is one of the greatest organizations in America for what it does for young men or develop young boys into men," said Dulaney. "Sometimes in the news you'll see people successful in business, politics, industry. Many of them were Scouts and Eagle Scouts."
The dinner served as a fundraiser for the Choctaw Area Council. It's the second-fastest growing scout council in the United States.
