Lauderdale County Habitat for Humanity is continuing to prepare for its upcoming "Building Blitz" this Saturday, and the organization is still in need of volunteers during the week to help build four homes in just seven days.
"We are still looking for volunteers for the "Building Blitz." It's mostly during the week time," said executive director Fonda Rush.
Framing and roofing will take place Saturday and Sunday. Finishing work, such as painting, will take place toward the end of the week, but don't worry if you don't know the first thing about construction; there will be professionals on hand to supervise.
"We have site supervisors, and that's their job," Rush said. "They are there to show you and train you and help you learn the skills needed to build in that house."
And if the construction aspect still scares you, there are many other ways to volunteer. Your church can help out by donating a meal for the crews. Or you could come help serve a meal or snacks during the day. It’s just that simple.
If you would like to volunteer in any way, contact the Lauderdale County Habitat for Humanity at 601-485-4992.
