Citizens National Bank and the American Red Cross Key Chapter Monday announced a joint partnership.
Citizens National is using its "Community Matters" program to promote the work of agencies like the Red Cross.
The bank has more than a dozen locations across Mississippi. Red Cross director Cheri Barry said it's a great way to spread the word.
"For the next three months, Citizens National Bank and the Key Chapter of the American Red Cross will partner in an effort to make sure this community is aware of our mission and how we help this community," said Barry. "So we're going to be doing some CPR training. We're going to be talking about disaster. We're going to be handing out programs. We're going to make sure this community is Red Cross ready."
"A message of hope in a time that right now economically is not good," said bank president and CEO Archie McDonnell, Jr., of the Red Cross mission. "And the only way that we're going to be able to help ourselves here in Mississippi is by forming these kinds of partnerships with the community, leveraging what we can do for each other and dealing with things like tornadoes, hurricanes, home fires, people who are losing their jobs and want to get back up on their feet and recover."
McDonnell said the partnership is a natural fit. He said some bank employees are even volunteers with the Red Cross.
