Fat Tuesday is the culmination of the annual Mardi Gras season, and people everywhere celebrated.
That includes the residents at Queen City Nursing Center in Meridian.
A Mardi Gras Parade was held there Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say it's a great way to help the residents enjoy Mardi Gras, just like the younger folks.
"The residents just look forward to it," said Linda Cooper of Queen City Nursing Home. "They talk about it all day. We wear masks and we have beads and we throw candy. They're just sitting out here enjoying themselves in this beautiful weather."
Queen City's Mardi Gras Queen is Anna Burrage. The King is Daniel Hudson.
Fat Tuesday is followed by Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Lent season on the Christian calendar.
