The Salvation Army kicked off its annual Red Kettle campaign and Angel tree program Thursday.
The names of children who are in need of clothing and toys are on angel cards, hanging on a Christmas tree at Bonita Lakes Mall.
You may "adopt" these children and provide the specific things they need this Christmas.
"We're asking people to come by the mall and to adopt an angel and to bring the gift back where you have received the angel and picked up the angel. And try and make a difference in the community, for a child. And to make a wonderful Christmas for some wonderful children this Christmas," said Maj. Don Wildish, commander of The Salvation Army.
"And again I want to say to each and every one, thank you."
The agency requests that toys be purchased and brought back, unwrapped, by Dec. 10.
The money raised in the kettles helps The Salvation Army in its charitable work year-round.
