Community and health care leaders are invited to help plan events for October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The CAREousel Breast Cancer Support Group hosted a session Thursday night to get that input.
In the past three years, CAREousel has been involved in education and awareness about the importance of screenings for women and men.
"And this year we hope to have every single day in the month of October having with a pink activity, from a golf tournament to a walk to educational programs during the week to churches picking a Sunday to talk about breast cancer, to just different wonderful activities," said Sylvia Mercado. "And we hope to kick all that off in Dumont Plaza on October the first."
Mercado is a breast cancer survivor of almost 22 years. She said CAREousel wants to help those who have been diagnosed and those who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the future.
