October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Riley Hospital is hosting Pink Thursdays, taking lunch and an educational presentation to businesses.

It was at Action Finance Thursday to promote the value of regular screenings.

"It's important for us to educate these women on how they can detect it early, get their annual mammograms, do their monthly self-exam, because early detection is the best prevention," said Elizabeth Busbee, Riley Hospital marketing director.

"You know, we've just come to be aware of all this in the last, say, 10 years or so, and I think it's on everybody's mind," said Action Finance manager Ann Williams, who is also an ovarian cancer survivor.

The winners of Pink Thursday will get a free lunch and learn how important preventive screenings are to beating cancer.
