Even though it's still early in the United Way campaign, the organization marked off some progress Friday.

The agency is working toward an $800,000 goal by the end of the year. It has reached 25% of that so far.

"We're just very appreciative of the generosity of many to date. We have more to come as we realize but we're off to a great start and just want to recognize and thank those who have been so generous," said campaign chairman Bill Patterson. "And we want to encourage others to realize that there's so many needs that are represented here."

This year's campaign has the theme, "Peace. Love. United Way."

United Way member agencies offer services as diverse as family counseling, child protective services, and disaster relief.
