MCCSA Set for 3rd Annual Dancing Like the Stars

As any fan of 'Dancing with the Stars' knows, the finals of that popular show will be next week on ABC and WTOK-TV.

But another big ballroom dancing event is coming to Meridian Dec. 4.

The third annual 'Dancing Like the Stars' is a fundraiser for Multi-County Community Service Agency.

Local celebrities will be taking to the dance floor to show what they can do. The money raised will go toward getting a new home for MCCSA. The agency's government funds are only for client services.

"During this time of year, this season of year when people are interested in giving to worthwhile causes and identifying organizations that they can give to that are really making a difference in the community, what a wonderful opportunity and what a wonderful organization to give to that makes a difference," said Larry Nicks of Inspiration Communications Group, which is helping with publicity.

Tickets for 'Dancing Like the Stars' at the frank Cochran Center are $50 each. The deadline to buy them is Nov. 26. The cost is tax-deductible. Contact Mary Atterberry at 601-938-2772 for information on tickets, or if you're interested in dancing for the fundraiser.

Only someone like "Loretta" could dump on a great fundraising idea like Dancing Like the Stars. Did she miss the story entirely? That this is for MCCSA that helps a LOT of people who are going through a tough time? That this is being promoted by some fine people, who happen to be African American btw, as a way to help this agency get out of a terrible, leaking, crumbling building? Plus, this is an event that is a great deal of fun and people need to laugh a little these days? My word, where does she get this bitterness? I feel for the people who have to live and work with her.

Loretta, You need to learn your community. "Dancing like the Stars" is a fundraising event to raise funding for Multi County and the many programs they provide for the under privileged and less fortunate in our community. Can you not be positive about anything?

There is always a kill joy no matter what you do. Loretta, crime is going to happen no matter were you live. I feel that Dancing like a star will have a positive effect on the community and help get people involved. So I say moonwalk on people, moonwalk on.

We had more crimes happen in this town more than anything this pass month and I do not think dancing will help the crimes come down. Lets focus on the major issues that happen in this town than moonwalking across the dance floor
