Meridian Reaches Sesquicentennial

The city of Meridian will celebrate a major milestone, 150 years of history, this week.

Meridian celebrates its sesquicentennial Wednesday. The city was incorporated Feb. 10, 1860,

A birthday party will be held Wednesday at Dumont Plaza from
10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

It will include music and a balloon release. The public is invited. Mayor Cheri Barry is expected to attend.

    I have fond memories of Meridian's centennial.It seemed like a week long celebration of parades,music,and events.I can't believe that was 50 years ago.Meridian is getting old.
