Meridian's Catholic community will come together Sunday morning for a special time of worship.
It will observe the Feast of Pentecost Mass outside at Okatibbee Lake.
The Rev. Father Frank Cosgrove says members of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Churches will unite with Catholic believers serving at NAS Meridian.
"And of course, Pentecost is the day that the Holy Spirit came upon the Church," said Cosgrove. "The people heard the apostles speaking in their own languages as we read in the Acts of the Apostles. And we're going to symbolize that by having prayers of the faithful in about ten or twelve different languages."
Father Cosgrove says Protestants are also invited to attend the Mass, which starts at 10 a.m. Sunday on the west bank of Okatibbee Lake. It will be followed by a picnic on the grounds.
