A Meridian donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has made a $100,000 gift to the Community Foundation of East Mississippi.
According to a news release from the foundation, it is to be known as The Life Endowment and will be used to help the less fortunate in east Mississippi.
“This is a wonderful example of the generous nature of this community,” said Ronnie Walton, president of the board of directors of the Community Foundation of East Mississippi. “Future generations will look back and realize that somebody cared enough about the less fortunate to leave a gift that will, in some small way, help them through their life circumstances.”
Executive director Roman Herrington said the donor has identified some nonprofit organizations of interest. A grant-making program for the money will be developed.
