The Meridian Public School District hosted the 2010 MHSAA Region 3 Marching Band Festival.
The bands are divided into five classifications based upon the school enrollment.
Three band judges judged the competition. The bands were judged in a number of areas including musical performance, marching performance, general effect, and guard/percussion.
"The judges this year for color guard is Leah Hosey from Jackson, Mississippi. Percussion is Jeff Brown. The drum major is Ted Burns from Pearl, Mississippi. And the three band judges, Terry Kenny from Georgia, Tim Willis from Florida, and Ernest Hebson from Florida," explains Joel Hosey, the Band Director for Meridian High School.
The festival brought over 2500 talented students to the area. Some of the bands competed in order to qualify for the championship. It will be held Oct. 23.
