Saturday's nice weather made for another successful Meridian Mardi Gras event in downtown Meridian.
Newscenter 11 was there as hundreds gathered to see the parade and to enjoy all of the food, fun, and excitement. Of course, there was the gumbo cooking competition and the king cakes that were for sale. Locals we talked to said they had a great time.
"I'm enjoying it," Tammy Reed from Toomsuba said. "I'm down here to see all of the cute little dogs dressed up."
"We just going to see what it's all about," Mike Giles from Gilbertown, AL said. "We hadn't been to one up here before. We been enjoying what we being here with."
Meridian Main Street helps to organize the Mardi Gras events in downtown Meridian every year.
