Several Meridian restaurants are supporting the annual
Run for the Wall.
Riders will be coming through Meridian on the southern route of Run for the Wall. Their journey starts in southern California and motorcyclists will arrive here May 19 and stay overnight.
The run started in 1989 as a way to bring awareness about Vietnam vets that are still unaccounted for.
Fundraisers are being held locally to take care of the riders while they're here and to help with trip expenses.
Representatives of Meridian Run for the Wall will be at Weidmann's for brunch Sunday, Apr. 27, to accept donations.
Other restaurants are also helping in the days to come: Subway on Highway 19 North May 2-3, Squealer's Barbecue May 9, Echo Lounge May 15, and Cater's Market May 16. Rustler Steak House participated Apr. 24.
The Run for the Wall Poker Run is May 3, starting at 11 a.m. at the Best Western in Meridian.
