Through encouragement we can accomplish many things that are thrown at us throughout our lives. The message was adopted for the Mississippi Baptist Evangelism Conference held Sunday and Monday at Northcrest Baptist Church in Meridian.
The state evangelism director was not only happy to be here, but happy that a large, diverse group was worshiping together.
"We're excited to be back in Meridian; we were here about three years ago at the Northcrest Baptist Church for our state evangelism conference. It's an annual event that we do around our state in different places," said Don Lum. "It's a time for us to be able to come and worship together, Mississippi Baptists from all over the state."
Leaders say encouragement not only makes us strive to become better, but it's also a light in a dark world.
"We're going to be here to encourage and challenge pastors and our church families to be a part of what God has called us to do," said Lum. "We live in a tough world and it's a time that we need to be on our best and be all that we can be for God."
Southern Baptist Convention president, the Rev. Dr. Fred Luter, opened the conference Sunday. His term ends in July.
