Meridian, Miss. A group of local firefighting recruits graduated Saturday after weeks of special training.
Recruits from Meridian, Lauderdale County, and Kemper County graduated at the Meridian Little Theater Saturday evening. The graduates trained with the Meridian Fire Department and the Refinery Terminal Fire Company. The recruits will serve the Kemper County Energy Facility.
"Safety is a core value for our company and this is an example to the commitment we have to safety and our commitment to the community that we're bringing in local recruits, now firemen to support the safety of our emplolyees and the community," Bruce Harrington says.
"I just can't wait to be on shift and be back home with my family more often than I had lately," Monty English says. "I'm looking forward to being the best i can be for my team and my company."
In all, 12 recruits graduated.
