Members of the Meridian Community College Foundation Thursday night honored individuals who contribute financially to the foundation.
Those who donate money to the foundation were celebrated at the Northwood Country Club in Meridian. Employees of Rush Hospital who contribute funds to MCC were praised for making higher education and development possible in the area.
"It's a great thing. It's probably the best thing to give your money to. It goes to the growth and development of the young people of Meridian and Lauderdale County area," describes Donnie Smith, the Vice President for Human Resources at Rush Hospital and a board member of MCC.
MCC was the first community college to offer free tuition for the residents of the county. The money donated to the foundation is used for this purpose. Those students with free tuition have to meet specific requirements.
