Meridian, Miss. Meridian Housing Authority presented scholarships to eight outstanding high school graduates Wednesday.
Executive director, Ron Turner, says the housing authority residents will receive over $140,000 in scholarships for college.
The scholarship program was made possible through the HOPE VI grant obtained by MHA.
"We know they're faced with a lot of challenges," said MHA executive director, Ron Turner. "And despite those challenges, they've come through. They've achieved. They've accomplished. And now they're on their way to college. And we know that they're going to be productive citizens here in Meridian."

MHA's Endowment Scholarship Trust Fund is managed by the Community Foundation of East Mississippi.
