Meridian, Miss. Hundreds gathered on the front lawn of City Hall to let the good times roll for Meridian Mardi Gras.

Meridian Mardi Gras has become so popular, that it's now an annual event complete with food, live music, vendors, as well as a parade. Mardi Gras Chairman Will Hayes says the goal is to bring in visitors and potential new businesses to show everything that the Queen City has to offer, while also providing a fun atmosphere for those who call Meridian home.

"This is the perfect opportunity for them to see the businesses that are starting to open up and all the potential that Meridian downtown has to offer."

Hayes says an event like this also has a great economic impact on the area by bringing people out to existing downtown businesses.
