Local volunteers with the East Mississippi Animal Rescue are working with a big company in order to find friendly homes for pets.
Purina has developed a project known as 'One Hope Network'. This is a program where the company works with Wal-Marts across the country in order to help out cats and dogs find safe and secure homes. Saturday, they brought this program to Meridian's Wal-Mart on Highway 19 North.
"It's very important that we foster these dogs that are thrown away on the side of the road. They are left behind at veterinarians. A lot of people can't afford to keep them anymore, so it's very important that we promote the adoption of these precious dogs and cats. We foster in our homes and we are always in need of foster homes and we are always in need of donations because we very much believe in nurturing these animals so it doesn't continue on with this problem of being neglected and thrown away," describes Anne Mosley, a volunteer with the East Mississippi Animal Rescue.
The purpose of the program is to raise money for awareness about local pets and to find homes for them.
