Registration This Week for GED Classes

Meridian, Miss.

Meridian Community College will soon begin registration for GED classes this fall.

Registration starts Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Ralph E. Young Center for Adult Basic Education. Registration will also take place Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.

People may take the classes free of charge, but the test to earn the GED costs $120. The test is taken by computer. These classes help prepare people to take that test.

"The people that come through the program, they are appreciative to us, but it's really not about us; it's about them," said Jennifer Whitlock, adult education director. "They've done the work. They've put in all the effort, took the time. We also in our GED program, what we try to do is help people identify and put them on a career pathway."

Classes may be taken at MCC, Wesley House, the Win Job Center, or through the Meridian Housing Authority. For more information, you may call 601-484-8796.
