Meridian, Miss. Mississippi's tourism director says he believes Meridian's future Arts and Entertainment Center is a huge plus.
The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center will open in 2017, using the latest technology to celebrate the richness and beauty of Mississippians in the arts. State tourism director Malcom White says he believes Mississippi is a key contributor to the arts and it's through our struggles we have created a name for ourselves.
"We are so creative because we have struggled so hard," White explains. "We have been forced to entertain ourselves to be storytellers. I think Mississippi has 2.9 million storytellers and that's a lot of it."
The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center will be located in downtown Meridian where the old Hotel Meridian once stood and will hopefully attract people from all over the country and beyond.
