Meridian, Miss. There was a special program on Thursday to help out local combat veterans.
The Veterans Administration Center in Jackson had its mobile unit in Meridian at the Meridian Veterans Services Office as part of its "VA to Vets" program. The purpose of the program is to connect combat veterans with the VA and help them understand the services their offer as they try to readjust to life after combat. VA officials say they answered a lot of questions.
"Mostly we're getting questions about a lot of people are not aware of the vet center, so mostly questions are about what does the mobile unit do and what can we provide for them," Terry Winn says.
Officials from the mobile unit left information with the local Veterans Service Office for people who were not able to make it out on Thursday.
