The video capturing the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors discussing issues in closed executive session that should be discussed in an open meeting has been released. This is roughly seven and a half minutes of the board talking over possible tax increases for garbage collection. Under the Open Meetings Law, this subject matter should be discussed in an open meeting so that the public can hear it.
A local resident accused supervisors of discussing public matters during a closed session. The session had apparently, accidentally been captured on tape and posted to the county's web site.
News Center Eleven discussed this with an attorney for the upcoming edition of the program, 'On The Record'. You can watch the video in question here or during 'On The Record', which airs Sunday on WTOK at 5:30 p.m. and myTOK at 11:30a.m.
News Center Eleven is working with the Meridian Star on this story.
