Weather Holds Out for Ralph Morgan Rodeo

Meridian, Miss. The 77th semi-annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo began Friday night with some great weather after showers passed through earlier in the afternoon.

Cowboys and cowgirls from across the nation came to compete in a variety of competitions. Lecile Harris, the rodeo clown, also performed for all the people in the stands. Rodeo announcer Alan Moorhead is filling in for Mike Mathis this rodeo and says people need to come out and support the competitors.

"What I want everyone to do is to just join us in our family," Moorhead says. "Take these cowboys into their family and be their supportive section because that cellphone can keep us in touch, but it's not like that pat on the back that you can get from family where you are going to reach deep and perform just that much harder to win that money."

The rodeo continues Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children.
