Air National Guard Hosts Annual Black History Program

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Officials of the Air National Guard joined together Saturday afternoon to hold their annual Black History Month program.

The program detailed the many efforts that African-Americans made during the civil rights era and throughout American history. Special guest speaker C.D. Smith spoke on the significance of Black History Month and the impact the many trailblazers of previous generations made as they strived for a better tomorrow.

"We celebrate the changes and we've got a country that recognizes that there's talent everywhere and particularly in the army national guard over the years it's been quite evident that there's been quite a commitment for inclusion in diversity and so this is just a good time to talk about that," special guest speaker C.D. Smith says.

Black History Month continues through the entire month of February.
