BAY SPRINGS, Miss. (WTOK) - Mississippi's attorney general made a stop in Jasper County Monday to talk to locals.
Attorney General Jim Hood spoke Monday afternoon to the Rotary Club in Bay Springs. He talked about the issues affecting his office and what they mean for citizens. Then, he took questions from many in the audience.
One of the biggest topics: budget cuts. Hood says his office is struggling after a 28 percent cut over a two-year period.
"We've had to cut down in our office the number of positions," Hood says. "We're doing everything we can to tide us over to January because I feel like some in the legislature are going to come around and say, 'Whoa, we're not funding those necessary services that we need to'."
The Mississippi Legislature set the budget for the AG's office in a special session earlier this month.
