CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) -- The Clarke Co. Sheriff's Dept. has arrested the man they believe is responsible for killing a man near his own home last week. Sheriff Todd Kemp says Waynesboro-native Kaeshawn Turner is responsible for the death of Bruce O'Bryant Dear last Sunday. He's charged with murder. And they don't think he acted alone.

"Could be possibly others connected in the case, but we do believe that Turner was our triggerman," Sheriff Kemp says. "We do believe his accomplice was inside the vehicle that drove him away."

Sheriff Kemp says Deer was shot while outside his apartment on Highway 511. Investigators say he crashed his car while trying to get away. His car then caught fire in some nearby brush. As for a motive, the sheriff says it's too early to speculate. They're starting to piece together this puzzle, though. That's thanks in large part to lots of tips from the community.

"Citizens have been a great help in this case," Sheriff Kemp says. "Had it not been for them, moving forward, we'd be way behind in the game."

They're not yet releasing the second suspect's name, but Sheriff Kemp says they are searching for that person now. There could be more charges coming for both suspects.

"That charge may be upgraded when it goes to the grand jury," He says. "But right now we can justify the charge of murder in this case."

Turner's bond is set at $50,000 on the murder charge.
