Board of Supervisors discuss courthouse renovation plans

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors had a meeting Monday where plans for courthouse renovations were discussed.

The board must also make a decision about where to relocate courthouse employees while the work is done.

“No new updates, just pretty much, you know, publicly coming out saying what we are doing, where we’re going, what we’re trying to do. Not really anything new but just trying to be as transparent as we can be to the public,” says Josh Todd, president of the board of supervisors.

The board is looking into relocating workers to the vacant JCPenney location at the Bonita Lakes Mall.

The board is also looking into purchasing others properties near or around downtown that might be appropriate for added space, such as the federal building which also has a courtroom, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the exact details.

Todd says the board hopes to have a decision by the end of the year.
