MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Investigators say foul play is not suspected in the case of a body that was found Monday morning in Meridian. The discovery was made near the corner of 14th Street and 25th Avenue. A man passing by shortly before 8 made the discovery.
"I was dropping my son off at school, and I was riding past the fire station," says Darryl Franklin. "I was on the phone and as I looked to my right I saw a body just slumped over, and I made the block like two or three times. The first time I came by I blew the horn. The second time I came by I started whistling and he still didn't move. So, I made the block a third time and came and parked my car and walked over there to check and see if he was alive and he wasn't. It's just scary. It made me nervous."
Meridian police are handling the probe. According to the preliminary investigation, Captain John Griffith says there are no signs of foul play in this case. He says the person found was a white female. He says an autopsy will determine her exact cause of death.
