Brother speaks on losing loved ones in home explosion

Duffee, Miss. (WTOK) - The names of the two killed in the home explosion are Billy and Janelle Alexander. They were longtime residents of the Duffee community.

“I got here in three minutes after I heard the explosion. As you can see, there's nothing standing except the chimney," R. E. Alexander says about his brother’s home.

"I’ve never seen anything like it. They were both sitting side-by-side in their recliners in the living room when it blew. They never knew what hit them," Alexander says.

Alexander says they were very close to him and were well-known and liked throughout the community. Living in that home for the last 25 years, Billy Alexander's brother talks about him being very independent and loving to work on things.

"He was well-known and worked on airplanes for 40 years. He was very meticulous about everything he did," Alexander says.

And meticulous he was building this model of the Key Brother’s plane over a period of 8 months, paying attention to every little detail. Now, family members are remembering every detail about Billy and Janelle Alexander. R. E. Alexander is still taking it in.

"He was a good, honest Christian fella and I’m glad to have had him as a brother," Alexander says.

The Alexander family says they are very thankful for everyone who has shown them love and support over the first 24 hours of the incident including the multiple agencies who responded to the incident.
