MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian Community College presented the first Certainteed Veterans Scholarship Wednesday to Ryan McDonald.
Certainteed distributes funds to charitable organizations every year. This year the company partnered with MCC to organize a fund to help veterans transition from a military lifestyle into a workforce lifestyle.
The donor of the scholarship says that it's important for the vets to be able to find a job when they are no longer in active service.
"Partnering with colleges and universities can help support that activity and bring those people actively from military service into the workforce," said Daniel McFadden, plan manager. It's a great thing for business as a whole."
Certainteed says it hopes inactive military members receive the skills they need for a future job, through this scholarship.
