MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The local medical community is mourning the loss of a man who made a difference in many lives.
J.C. "Buddy" McElroy, Jr., who served as chairman of the Rush Health Systems board of trustees, died this week. He last served as executive vice president and CEO of Rush Health Systems before retiring in 1999.
Some of his accomplishments include opening the state's first single-room maternity unit in 1988, establishing the region's first neonatal ICU in 1990 and opening the region's first pain treatment center in 1995.
McElroy also operated a very successful trucking company, McElroy Truck Lines, based in Cuba, Ala.
