ENTERPRISE, Miss. (WTOK) -- Though they've only been serving up lunch less than five years, the Coffee Pot Cafe in Enterprise has quickly turned into one of this area's top eateries. Owner Lin Carruth, a native of Louisiana, has brought the taste of the bayou to Clarke County, and customers come from near and far to get a great meal and more.

Lin Carruth says she never planned on getting into the restaurant business.
"I planned to just have a gift shop and art because I paint and antiques and what not," said Carruth. "I thought I'd make some chicken salad one day for some ladies coming in and my husband said why don't you make a pot of gumbo. It just grew. It's got a little mind of its own."
The Coffee Pot now is entering its fourth year in business, and judging by this Wednesday lunch crowd, it's turned into one of the most popular restaurants in the area. The menu is wide ranging with a Louisiana flair, featuring crab cakes, seafood gumbo, jambalaya, shrimp poboys and red beans and rice.
"Everything is authenic and made from scratch. We make gumbo every day and crawfish etoufee every day, shrimp creole and we have our specials that we run so everything is from scratch," said Carruth.
After lunch, you can also enjoy a unique gift shop which features a wide variety of odds and ends.
"We try to be different. We do. We try to buy unique things that blend with the antiques," said Carruth
As for future plans, Lin says she's working to transform the upstairs part of the buildng to a heritage museum for Clarke County and also adding an old fashion soda fountain, reminiscent of an old timy drugstore feel. The Coffee Pot in Enterprise: great eats, a great atmosphere and a unique shopping experience all in one.
The Coffee Pot is open Tuesday through Saturday, serving lunch between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
