2019 DYW of Mississippi Preliminary Awards

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Preliminary competition for the 2019 Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi program wrapped up Friday night with the presentation of preliminary awards in the following categories: Scholastic, Talent, Fitness, and Self-Expression.

The Scholastic Preliminary recipients were each awarded a $400 cash scholarship sponsored by Mary Jo Huffman and Family. They included: George County’s Mia Parker, Neshoba County’s Abby Seale, West Lauderdale County’s Sarah Pasha, and Clarke County’s Clancy Slay.

The Talent Preliminary recipients were each awarded a $400 cash scholarship sponsored by Blake Travis in honor of Marilyn M Lumpkin. They include: Lamar County’s Emmie Perkins, Madison County’s Anna Duong, Rankin County’s Taylor Binkley, and West Lauderdale County’s Sarah Pasha.

The Fitness Preliminary recipients were each awarded a $400 cash scholarship sponsored by Leland and Glynese Irby and Family. They include: Lamar County’s Emmie Perkins, Leake County’s Meg Thomas, Newton County’s Jasmin Brooks, and West Lauderdale County’s Sarah Pasha.

The Self-Expression Preliminary recipients were each awarded a $400 cash scholarship sponsored by Dr. Pat and Donna Sprabery and Family. They include: Greene County’s McKay Lee Bray, Starkville Lori Feng, Madison County’s Anna Duong, and West Lauderdale’s Sarah Pasha.

The final night of competition begins Saturday night at 8pm with the announcement of the Top 10 at the Evangel Temple.
