SCOOBA. Miss- (WTOK) All hands were on deck at Sullivan-Windham field at East Mississippi Community College, in preparation for the first home game of the football season.

The former national champions faced off against Northeast Mississippi Community College. Both teams were 1-1 this season. EMCC football player, Ezekiel Rose, told Newscenter 11 about the mental preparation it took starting the season.

The team had to overcome being disqualified from the 2015 MACJC playoffs last year due to a brawl with Mississippi Delta.

Students are standing behind the team which has been on the road for the past two weeks. But it came into Thursday's contest with a win.

Students say a win at the home opener might be the momentum they need to win a national championship in 2016. The Lions defeated the Tigers 54 to 10 Thursday night.
