MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Generous people all across our area are doing what they can to help Hurricane Irma evacuees here.
The city of Meridian, Lauderdale County and the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation have teamed up to provide a one-stop-shop for people to donate items to those in need. The effort is called "Meridian Helps Them Home." it kicked off Monday, and there's been a big response from people wanting to help.
"It's just a blessing to know there are people out there that are willing to help, and I just wanted to be among them," Bridgett McClelland says. "God has blessed me, so I'm using what I have to bless others, basically."
Those who want to donate and evacuees in need can stop by the Northeast Conference Center on Highway 11 & 80 until 7 p.m. They'll be open again tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
