MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The EMBDC is celebrating another small business opening in Meridian as Haven Salon held its ribbon cutting ceremony Monday.

“Small business is so important to an area and so for us at the Chamber of Commerce, we really look for those small businesses and look for better ways that we can partner with them to help make them a success,” says Casey Holladay, the events coordinator for the EMBDC.

The owner of the salon is excited to be able to open a new business in the city: “I love Meridian, I’ve been born and raised in Meridian my whole life, I love small business in Meridian,” says Jamie Ainsworth. “I think without small business, our town won’t thrive so I’m super excited and super proud to open a small business here.”

Haven Salon is one of the several new businesses that have opened in Meridian over the past few months. The money collected from sales tax is a great benefit to the health of the city.

“It provides an opportunity for the taxes to be able to stay local, it provides an opportunity for local people to be able to have a job, and so it’s just an all-around something we highly encourage and work to promote,” says Holladay.

The salon hopes to have a positive impact on the community.

“What I’m most excited about is that I have a team of the most amazing, talented stylists, and my receptionists are wonderful, and I feel like this truly is a haven for people,” says Ainsworth. “I feel like when people come in they will leave feeling better and more loved than when they came in.”

Haven Salon is located at 2900b North Hills Street in Meridian.
