No arrests have been made at a local Japanese restaurant after a raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the restaurant's attorney.
Bill Ready Jr. is representing Sake Sushi in the Meridian Crossroads shopping center. He says ICE agents asked for documentation to ensure the employees had filed the appropriate paperwork. He says Sake Sushi was able to give the agents what they needed and no charges have been filed.
"When the agents left, very pleasant, (they) thanked me. They didn't request anything additional, said they appreciated providing what we provided," Ready says. "They took it back to Jackson, of course, to go through it and analyze it, and we're waiting to hear from them."
Fifty-five people were detained in Mississippi following Wednesday's raids. In Meridian, China Buffet II and Sake Sushi restaurants were among the places where ice agents served criminal warrants. China Buffet II did not answer our calls.
