MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - One local church helped serve meals around the city on Thanksgiving to those in need.
Volunteers from Community Outreach Church prepared nearly 300 plates for people to enjoy. The meal had all of the fixings such as turkey and dressing to cranberry sauce, rolls, and mac-n-cheese. Pastor Samuel Merriweather says today marks 25 years that he has spearheaded this effort. The pastor says there was a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
"It's something that's been on my heart for 20 something years now and I am so happy to have a group of people, the church members, and friends that will come out and help out with a situation like this because I can't do it all by myself," Pastor Merriweather said.
The Thanksgiving Day meal was provided by donations from church members and people from the community.
