MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -- It's not often that small children get a chance to publish a book, but that's exactly what first graders have done at T.J. Harris Lower Elementary School in Meridian.

Back in October, Miss Kelsey Mizenko's class started writing and decided to get the stories published. Earlier this week, the students were surprised as each received a copy of the book entitled "Emoji Crazy."

"They go to be creative and turned themselves into an emoji. They got to go on some fun adventures. We edited our writing and we went through all the steps of writing and we published our book. We are celebrating our published book and the kids are so excited that they are officially authors and illustrators," said Mizenko.

Miss Mizenko says publishing the book was one of the highlights of her teaching career.
