The Mississippi Tobacco Free Coalition of Lauderdale and Newton counties hosts meetings to discuss ways to get people to stop smoking. The group goes out to schools to inform children about the dangers of tobacco use. The coalition has been working to get the Meridian Community College campus smoke free by next May. They also help out adults looking to quit smoking.

"We basically try to educate them on their decision to smoke and how that effects not only them but the people around them," said Nicole Henley, the project director for the Lauderdale and Newton County coalition.

The organization receives funding from the Mississippi Department Of Health to host these meetings.
