Local tree farm sells Christmas trees in a pot

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A local tree farm is selling a different kind of Christmas tree, one that can live on after the holidays.

Evergreen Farm in Meridian not only sells the usual cut-Christmas trees, but they also offer smaller Christmas trees in a pot. What makes this tree unique is that you can water it once a day, keep it alive and replant it after Christmas.

“All you do is just water it, once a day, and then you got this beautiful tree that stays alive all season. And that’s the reason we like it. We don’t like the idea of cutting trees to start with, because it’s, you know, it’s almost your pet,” says Carol McElroy, who owns the farm with her husband, Buddy.

“It will stay fresh. I mean, you’re watering it; it is a live tree, so you don’t have a fire hazard inside with a tree in the pot. And just water it, make sure you water it every day, and you’re good,” McElroy adds.

And once Christmas is over, you can then plant your tree in your yard.

Evergreen Farm is located at 9930 Lizelia Road. The cost of a tree in a pot ranges from $39 to $59.
