MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A special kind of graduation ceremony was put on Saturday.

The Meridian Christian Home Educators graduated home-school students from across the county and surrounding areas. These are students that have been home-schooled all or most of their life. The parents were able to hand the students their diplomas during the graduation. Ceremony coordinators say putting on this graduation is special because not all home-school students get the opportunity to have a commencement like this.

"They call it commencement because it's a boundary between an old thing and a new thing. They are finishing up their home-school experience. They are moving on to other adventures in life, whether it be jobs, vocational training or college education,” says ceremony coordinator, Kelly Miller.
