MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A 19-year-old was arrested for attempting to sell drugs to an undercover agent.

Demoniko Kyrenzio Currie was arrested by the East Mississippi Drug Task Force in Meridian.

Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says Currie communicated with the task force using a cell phone. He says when Curry met with the undercover officer he had fake drugs on him along with a firearm.

"Had he been confronted about the fact that these were not real drugs, it's very likely that he would have ripped off or stolen the money that he was trying to get from person that thought they were buying real drugs," Calhoun says.

Calhoun says Currie used a crushed white powder and wax to simulate the drugs. He says even though the drugs were fake, Currie is still charged as if they were real. His total bond is $20,000.
