MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Annual Merry Meridian Market is Saturday at the MSU Riley Center downtown. The shopping event is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It kicks off a series of Christmas-themed events that have become a long-running local tradition.
Vendors will offer homemade crafts, jewelry, pottery, women’s clothing and unique gifts. The event features local and regional vendors.
Also scheduled during the event will be Christmas caroling, ballet dancers performing Christmas routines and members of the Meridian Little Theatre performing scenes from 'It’s a Wonderful Life'.
Shoppers will also have the chance to get a photo made with Santa, share story time with Mayor Percy Bland and participate in a tacky Christmas sweater contest. The inner gets a $100 shopping spree to be used at the market.
New this year will be Black Bayou Swampwiches, a food truck located directly across from the market at Dumont Plaza, that features New Orleans fusion cuisine.
