NAS training jets set to resume operations

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A familiar sight and sound will resume Monday in our area. The Navy's T-45 training aircraft will resume operations.

Vice Ad. Mike Shoemaker announced Saturday that the operational pause for the T-45C will be lifted Monday. Flight operations are expected to resume this week using a modified mask, successfully tested by Naval Air Systems Command, that circumvents the aircraft's On Board Oxygen Generator System, which was the root of the problem for the Goshawks.

Initially, instructor pilots will conduct warm-up flights, after which they will brief the remaining pilots and students in their squadrons on use of the modified equipment. As the week progresses all instructor pilots will complete their warm-up flights, followed by warmups and training flights for student pilots.
